The 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse is available in four trims: GS, GS Sport, SE, and GT. The new SE trim includes all of the bells and whistles you’d find in a GS Sport, but has a sleeker, more menacing look with a dark argent finish to the 18-inch alloy wheels and matching black side mirrors. In terms of power, the 2012 Eclipse is available with two different engines. The GS, GS Sport, and SE are equipped with a 162-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder MIVEC engine that produces 162 pounds-feet of torque and is paired with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The GT gets a larger 265-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6, which delivers 262 pounds-feet of torque and is paired to a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. Fuel efficiency ratings depend on which engine you choose and range between 17-20 mpg in the city and 25-28 mpg on the highway.

The Eclipse certainly looks the part of a sports car, you won’t be disappointed when it comes to the exterior of this sleek machine. Dual exhaust outlets, clear chrome LED tail lamps, High-Intensity Discharge projector-type headlamps, and a power glass sunroof round out the exterior features. The available Aero Kit, with color-keyed front airdam, side sill extensions, and a rear corner airdam, adds more flair to the Eclipse.

Even though the 2012 Eclipse technically seats four, we wouldn’t want to be stuck in the backseat if you catch our drift. Air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, and ice-blue LED illumination of instruments and controls come standard, while a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, heated leather front seating, and power driver’s seat are optional.

When it comes to safety, the 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse features antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, side-impact airbags for front seats, and side curtain airbags.
